Missionaries Garrett Wong, Luis Contreras and Bably Ateke answered ‘yes’ to God’s calling to start a ministry and open a Bible Store in Mombasa, Kenya. They approached Maryland Bible Society for advice and direction.
Their mission is a perfect partnership for us; we decided to join their cause and hope you will do the same. Currently in Kenya, the very few Christian stores in existence are expensive.
Since 18% of Kenyan citizens speak English – and many Americans have more used Bibles than they need – a rare opportunity has been created. By collecting donated used Bibles, biblical studies, commentaries, concordances and Christian literature, we are able to supply the needed inventory.
Additionally container ships leave the port of Baltimore periodically and travel directly to Mombasa. A fully loaded container will cost $4,000. The Chinese Community Church in Washington, D.C. and mission churches in Kenya are funding the shipping costs.
The irony here cannot be missed. The Maryland Bible Society was founded to distribute new bibles. We are now a linchpin in the redistribution of used bibles to new Christians in Mombasa, Kenya. We are excited about this opportunity. Join us!
